COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Director’s Theme: Elements of Living
Ephesians 3:16-17
I pray that, according to the riches of God’s glory, God may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through God’s Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love.

A) SPEAKING SCRIPTURE
Our Bible comes out of an oral tradition. It is a compilation of stories told for thousands of years under the stars, around the campfire, and around the table. Don’t just read the scripture, embody it! Note: This class is theater based. No previous experience necessary.
B) HOW TO PRAY
Prayer can be hard but also prayer is central to our faith. What is it? How do we pray? Why does it matter for our relationship with God and in our lives? Together, we will engage different models, forms of prayer, and learn to listen for God.
BIBLE CLASSES
C) EATING THE BIBLE
Yum! Or gross? Explore scripture through the lens of food! Experience cultures, unpack food justice, gain insight into the centrality of food in community and participate in the table Jesus sets for us.
D) EXPERIENCING GOD IN CREATION
Scripture tells us the amazing story of God’s relationship with Creation - not just people - but all of Creation! Using the scriptures as a guide, deepen your connection to the world around you, and see how we are just a part of all creation.
E) LIVING WITH GRIEF
Loss is a part of life and grief is a natural response to loss. How do we live faithfully even when we are grieving? And how do we walk compassionately with our friends and family who experience loss?
F) MEDITATION - SPIRITUAL PRACTICES
Meditation, along with a variety of spiritual practices, have ancient roots and important modern day applications. What are practices we can adopt that help us stay centered in God in the midst of life’s stresses and challenges?
G) HOW TO SPEAK LIKE A PASTOR
People are always asking pastors to pray and speak out loud. How do they do that? Together, we will look at the tools available for all people to tell their faith story, pray aloud, and share the good news. Learn to speak about faith in your own voice!
H) FAITHFUL MASCULINITY
What does it mean to be a man of God? Explore concepts of masculinity and how some masculine gender norms can be harmful to people of all genders. This class will dive into some hard conversations. Together, we will break down dangerous assumptions
and build one another up.

LIFE CLASSES
SEMINAR (18+) — GROWING IN FAITH IN TIMES OF STRUGGLE
It’s easy to trust God when everything is going well. But when the going gets rough, it’s easy to feel unmoored. How do we continue to cling to our faith when life is difficult? How do we grow in faith when we feel like the world keeps pushing us down? We will explore new ways to approach life’s challenges as people of faith.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CABIN LEADER CLASS
*CLASS FOR CABIN LEADERS ONLY* This class takes the place of daily cabin leader meetings and looks to enhance the leadership skills of our Pinecrest cabin leaders. Cabin Leaders will use this time to grow as leaders and to best serve the Pinecrest community.
