Treasures in Heaven/Worry | Matthew 6:29-34

Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For it is the gentiles who seek all these things, and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
“So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
In the most troubled time of my life I cried, “Please God, just show me a sign.” Like doubting Thomas, I had to see something before I would believe.
Fast forward, February 7, 2026. Pastor Danielle asks, “George, would you be interested in doing the Lenten devotion for February 26?” What are the chances that the appointed reading, this one, would be the same one that was read at both my Baptism and Confirmation? More specifically it was the verse,“Seek first the kingdom of God and all will be given to you.”
You see, the signs were already and always right there in front of me but, I wasn’t ready, willing, wanting, to see them. It wasn’t until I asked myself what do I believe, not until I decided to open my heart and to seek first, that I would begin to see those signs that I cried for.
With open eyes and clear vision my world began to change and I’ve never looked back. In the troubled and difficult days that you encounter, I pray that you will challenge yourself to open your heart. Don’t worry about the things of tomorrow, but rather seek first and center yourself on today. Allow the Holy Spirit to enter in and to open your eyes to the new day ahead.
Seek First! God Loves YOU. Jesus is walking right beside
You. The Holy Spirit is surrounding, encouraging, and cheering You on.
